Our Community
The Recovery Group is an all-inclusive community open to anyone in recovery. That can be recovery from addiction, mental health struggles, domestic violence, illnesses, homelessness, isolation, traumas, grief or people who are simply looking to get fit! It is entirely free to join, and there are no weekly or annual subscriptions.
Every Sunday morning we meet in Sefton Park, where we go for a run, then have a coffee and a chat. During this time, people can get things off their chest that have been bothering them that week.
We have a 24/7 WhatsApp group available to support each other, and also arrange alcohol-free social events to show that there is a life without having to have a drink.
Inspirational
Since founding Recovery Runners in 2023, we have met many remarkable and inspiring individuals who prioritise their wellbeing and mental health.
These are people on the path to recovery from various challenges in life, such as addiction, abuse, trauma, or simply working towards a fresh start after facing difficulties. Along the way, we have seen the strength and resilience of these individuals, as well as the positive impact that different services, charitable organisations, and support groups can have on them and our wider community.
The following photos are from some of our most recent events. All photos are displayed with the kind permission of the families or individuals involved.
NEON Night Run 14th December 2024
On Saturday 14th December we launched our “alcohol free” night out in Liverpool – the ‘Neon Night Run!’ This is an opportunity for people to have a night out and wake up the next day without a hangover. There are so many people, who don’t necessarily have a problem with drinking, but are looking for a healthier alternative for a night out… so here it is.
We took to the streets and ran 5km through the Liverpool City Centre, at night, under neon lights with banging tunes from international DJ, Billie Clements. Follow the link to read all about it 👉 The Liverpool Echo.

Fundraising Event Sept/October 2024
“I wanted to share some photos from the weekend’s fundraising run across the country. It has been the most challenging thing I have done so far, but totally worth it. Although we didn’t quite hit our GoFundMe target, the donations and incredible media publicity have given our community a massive boost. This next year is going to be bigger and better with more support available for those who need it.”
Stephen Melling, Director, The Recovery Group. (CIC).
I’d just like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the following businesses that supported us during the event and sponsored our t-shirts.
